Affiliate Marketing: The Original Gig Economy

In an era where the regular 9–5 day job is virtually gone, with more and more people working from home or jumping from contract to contract in the gig economy (or even from country to country as digital nomads) affiliate marketing has taken on a new light.

Even as the world attempts to normalize from the coronavirus pandemic, millions of people are left without job security in a new world looking for innovative answers. Affiliate marketing is quickly becoming one of the most recession-proof and quickest growing industries in the world.

With the advent of the internet, the new job ‘Prosumer’ or “Product and Brand Advocate’ was born. These people are the new advocates and voices of internet products in particular and can significantly impact the success or failure of companies, products and brands, particularly through their involvement on the social web. And, for a large part, affiliation models are driving this new trend.

Affiliate marketing fits like a glove to this new world, and if executed properly, it creates a great way to make a living. For many, the shrinking 9–5 job market means 40 hours a week with a restrictive schedule. Affiliate marketing, on the other hand, allows one to work around one’s own schedule which is not only attractive, it’s also becoming the new norm for many.

Similar to most jobs or business ventures, after becoming educated and more experienced, affiliate marketing offers a business model of duplication where entrepreneurs can mentor others to find similar success.

Residual, tiered income or the ability to receive commissions over a long period of time for an effort made today makes the business model quite attractive. And, with an honest and open discovery, one can’t really take issue with the tiered compensation structure as almost every large sales organization in the world uses a similar payment model. It’s not only freedom, it’s the future.

Data

● 8,493 new home-based businesses start every day in the USA.

● In 2018, the global direct sales industry had sales of approximately $192.9 billion and $189 billion in 2017. With every company featuring distinct payment models, the exact amount of commissions is not exactly known, but it is safe to say the commissions would be many billions of dollars to work-from-home entrepreneurs.

● In 2018, China became the global leader in retail direct sales with annual sales of $35.73 billion.

● Korea stands third among the retail sales list with $18.04 billion.

● Germany and Japan hold 4th and 5th positions in the list with $17.52 billion and $15.60 billion respectively.

The most value-driven products and services are rarely found within affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing companies typically feature high priced products that do not compete with other similar brands in price or overall value. The reason for priced-inflated products is simple. Typical affiliate marketing compensation and pricing models are based upon antiquated concepts that were better suited to printed product catalogs and not instantaneous pricing and the transparency of the internet.

Blockbuster’s $980 million bankruptcy was the end of the road for the long-standing video rental behemoth. Today, online video subscription services Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime own the market share once dominated by Blockbuster. Just like Spotify for music and e-subscription content providers such as ESPN Insider, it’s no secret that the membership model is the future — and the future is now.

JIFU’s value-driven offerings will attract a different type of entrepreneur. Truly visionary affiliate marketers understand that price gouging for higher short-term commissions is not a sustainable model. Happy returning customers create long-term commissions and more profitability.

JIFU’s travel, product, and membership offerings are modelled after thriving modern click and order companies such as Netflix, not the dying brick and mortar companies of the Blockbuster era. Just like Netflix, JIFU’s future resides in a fair and unlimited-access monthly membership as it does not mark up its travel to its members.

The affiliate marketing industry needs real offerings with real value. Teaching people how to sell, then allowing them to create sustainable residual income by onboarding customers and affiliates within the biggest and fast-growing trends within modern commerce is a true blue-ocean market, particularly when integrating a coin economy.
